It may seem natural for children to want to keep in touch with their previous carers and visa versa, but foster carers are often discouraged or even prevented from having contact with children they have cared for and likewise foster children with former carers.

If you are a foster carer and this sounds familiar and you want to know what you can do if you are in or have been in this position then this site may help.

Or if you have been fostered and were prevented from keeping in contact with former carers, we would welcome your views and experiences.

Us

Forget Me Not is a 'not for profit' organisation run by Clive and Beverley Block.  Clive and Bev have fostered many children over a period spanning 25 years and have experienced a number of situations where children have moved on and been prevented from keeping in contact with them or important people from their past.  A recent case caused them, and the child so much pain that they decided to challenge the Local Authority.  What they discovered was that there is limited information and support for carers in this situation and they want to share what they learned in the process of trying to establish contact with their former foster child.

Our Aims:

Ø      To find out how widespread this problem is.

Ø     To provide information which may help re-establish contact.

Ø      To provide a forum for sharing experiences.

Ø     To raise awareness of this issue.

Ø      To lobby for changes in attitude and practice.
